MFT were very fortunate to be offered a stand at the Euston Rural
Pastimes at the Duke of Grafton's Estate. Everything was set up in
good time for the start of the show and the weather encouraged the
crowds out to participate in what was a lovely day out in an idyllic
setting.
Our stand was situated right beside the heavy horse ring with Suffolk
Punches well in evidence from the front of our stand. A regular
throughput of visitors to the stand ensured that the display boards
were well read and awareness of MFT was raised. Daisy the Cow was
brought along by SB Surveyors and provided an irresistible draw with
funds of £121.00 raised on the day providing a useful addition to the
charity funds.
Very many thanks are due to Reverend Sally Fogden and her team for the
hard work in setting up the show and providing such a super
opportunity for MFT to participate in an event so well linked to the
aims and objectives of the Trust; to the 3rd Battalion Royal Anglian
for providing a spacious tent for MFT's stall and milking parlour; to
volunteers from RAF Honington for providing some manpower; to UK
Agriculture for supplying pictures for the notice board; to SB
Surveyors for their sponsorship; and to our farmworkers, Miriam and
Alex, for talking to visitors about their work on the farm.
One highlight of the show for those on the stand was the fly past by a
Lancaster bomber and spitfire which came over the showground three
times giving a further reminder of the power of the past. For this
and the enjoyment of the day we are again most grateful to the
organisers of Euston Rural Pastimes.
