A group of volunteers and farmworkers gathered at the Asda supermarket
in Stowmarket on Easter Monday to help the shoppers pack their
bags. Pat, a trustee of the Millennium Farm Trust and the organiser of
the event, was first to arrive with the MFT display board and
leaflets. She was joined by other supporters shortly after and more
turned up in the afternoon to relieve some of the early morning crew
members. Naturally, Pat stayed till the end to count the money!
A total of £236 was raised despite the fact that it was a rather
quiet day at the supermarket.
Bernadette, our chairwoman, commented afterwards,
"Well done everyone and thank you very much for giving up your time on
a bank holiday Monday. Your hard work raised a worthwhile sum of money
and enabled MFT to become better known by the people of Stowmarket and
the surrounding area."
Many thanks to Asda supermarket for kindly providing the venue.
